Is IFS able to restrict project time entry to specified individuals ?

I think the answer is probably going to be no but you never know so I’ll ask anyway.In the same company we have two distinct business units that both use projects but in the same way. Lets call them business unit A and business unit B. Both business units have different sets of engineers assigned to them. Business unit A wants to prohibit engineers from business unit B from booking time to projects belonging to business unit A.. We thought about using project access on but that casts too wide a net and would impact common support groups like purchasing and finance that support both business units which would make the access groups painful to continually maintain. We were hoping at the time entry level there was an easy way to make projects (or sub projects, or activities for that matter) invisible to those engineers that shouldn’t be able to book time to them..

Project invoice stuck in Print

We have created a Project invoice from an Application for Payment from a sales contract. This is to release remaining retention on the Sales contract . So it is Retention only application for payment. . The Invoice will not go to Posted authorise , but there are no errors showing on the Invoice. has anyone experienced this issue before ? We are on app 10 Update 11. Jeremy

Resource / user cannot enter time against work order

User is (sometimes) getting error “Incorrect Time Entry. You are not a resource for this Work No 14510 Task 51913” However checking the details he is a resource against that WO and Task. This is only happening some of the time - not all the time and I can’t figure out what the issue could be. Any help would be appreciated

Missing cost element in Project connections (COL with non-inventory sales part)

We have projects connected to / invoiced via customer orders.The customer order lines in these cases are for non-inventory sales parts / service parts.As the revenue numbers are not like expected (some lines are missing in actual revenue) we did some analysis, and found empty cost element fields in project connections.Question: where can we add a cost element to a non-inventory sales part? a default cost element called “Missing Cost element” for all missing cost elements? Is there any checklist / recommendation, what masterdata is necessary to have correct calculations in a project?Apps 10 Upd 11Thank you for your feedback!Regards Martina

Project Baseline Cost summary has included on cancelled activity

We have a project where cost breakdown is like mentioned above. When we checked the baseline there’s an extra $26,826.58 in cost that doesn’t show under project connections. That extra $26,826.58 has come from an Activity which is in Cancelled state. Can a cancelled Activity have a baseline cost? There is no planned/estimated cost. I tried to add it on the estimate tab, rebaseline, delete, then rebaseline but I can’t because the activity is cancelled. Simply rebaselining does not fix it.

IFS Projects - what is "role" and what is "access"

Hi , for IFS , there are 6 system defined Project Roles ,Project Manager Financially Responsible for a Project Sub Project Manager Financially Responsible per Sub Project Activity Responsible Financially Responsible per Activity OtherBut I cannot find any defination, any desribtion for each role’s permissions.like what can each role do and what cannot do. besides roles , there is another concept called “Project Access” ，with that , we can assign Team , Person to a sub-project .my question is So, if we assign sub-project access to person A , then what he is able to do?only report time?or he can made change to sub project ? eg:add activity, complete activity, complete sub-project(finical project) is there anyone can answer the question?

INC0451258-Project Forecast, B&F Actuals must not be recalculated based on B&F rate.

Within the business of one of our customers, it is common to agree with the customer to send invoices in an currency other than the accounting currency. As example, Hong Kong office has as accounting currency HKD (Hong Kong Dollar) while the contract to invoice is in CNY (Chinese renminbi). Employees from Hong Kong will report their time and cost in the accounting currency and then there are also subcontractors involved which send their invoices in EUR (Euro) and USD (US Dollar).When the contract is signed the budget is also signed. So company is creating the budget in those different currencies for both cost and revenue.Now it is expecting to see it the ETC, EAC and Actuals in Base Currency where the actuals in the Project Forecast are based on the information in the transactions (Vouchers). And that the ETC is recalculated by first taking the EAC from previous Forecast then subtract the actuals. And that the ETC is based on the B&F Rate.But now the problem is that “Used Base Curr

In project Resource allocation, hours allocated to individuals' do not add up to the total hours shown in resource group level.

A resource group has four employees connected. All employees have 8 hour schedule per day. But the total numbers of hours per day of the resource group also shows 8. Shouldn’t it be 32 hours? It does not get updated although ‘Calculate Resource Capacity’ is run. How to get this corrected?Individual hours per day. Four individuals set as this. Resource group also shows only 8 hours per day

what is the functionality of priority on PM action ?

Hi everyone, can anyone please tell me how the priority works on a maintenance plan, as you can see in the below image the priority is set to be 3 which is 2 weeks however when observed the planned start date and latest finish date has difference is just a week. Thanks a lot in advance cheers

"On Save" in Engineering Part Revision, where did it go?

Engineering Part Revision used to have a checkbox that would set the part revision to Released on save.I believe it was in a grouping called “On Save”. It is very handy when all you want to do is Release the revision and not fight the step of going to Active.Did that get removed?Patrick

Risk Probability Levels logical inconsistency

Risk Probability Levels can only be entered as an whole number and cannot overlap. Error messages are triggered if you attempt either of these things:• Decimal Numbers are not allowed for Probability Max• Overlaps present in maximum and minimum probability values. This means that there is always a gap between levels. On the Risk Analysis Screen when you try and set a probability to a percentage that is in one of those gaps, the following error message is generated:• Risk Basic data is not correctly set up. Gaps present between maximum and minimum probability values. Contact your administrator!The System Administrator can do nothing about this as it is impossible to avoid having gaps.Is it possible to allow the setting of the probability levels to 2 decimal places just like you can set the Probability Percentage on a Risk or to only allow the Probability Percentage on a Risk to be set using a whole number?

How is Project Delivery data handled when upgrading to Cloud

Project Delivery is no longer available in Cloud. For customers that have previously used Project Delivery in earlier versions, what happens to that data when they upgrade to Cloud. Is it converted to Project Deliverables? The Release Notes only indicate that Project Delivery is no longer available, nothing is mentioned about how data conversion is handled, if at all. Working with one customer that has history in Project Delivery and concerned about losing it when they upgrade.

Running PMRP without creating MTR

Hi All,I would like to ask if it is possible to - Run PMRP to create only purchase requisitions on the activities without creating Material Transfer requests between the activities if already items are available in the Project inventory. for e.g. Activity A has the requirement of Part ABC for X Qty Activity B already has Part ABC for Y Qty where X>=Y, but there is no current requirement of the part ABC.in the above scenario, if I Run PMRP then in place of creating PR on Activity A, PMRP will create MTR between Activities between B and A. but the user doesn’t want that. So is there any set-up that I can stop triggering MTR and only create fresh purchase requisition for Activity A while there is already the Same Part qty existing on Activity B?Kind regards,

What permissions are required for MCPR (multi company project reporting) to have employees created automatically in customer company?

We have setup multi company project reporting and everything works fine as long as a user with full access reports time for an employee. In that case, an employee is automatically created in customer company and added to employee link table.However, when a ‘normal’ user reports time on an employee activity, the users first gets error messages that he cannot add the user to the customer company. When an admin user grants access the user access to the company, then the normal user gets an error that he is not allowed to assign position to the employee (in customer company). What permissions are required to have the employee in customer company automatically created? Is there a standard permission set with the required permissions?

At multi-company project time reporting, Planned cost is not recognized at Customer company

Even though the sale price from the employee company is transferred to the customer company as an internal price, it is not reflecting in the activity monitoring as planned cost. What could be causing this? Posting Control setup at Customer company

Behavior like Project Deliverables with Supply Code = DOP

Dear all,I would like to ask you to explain why Project Deliverables does not contain an option for Supply Code = DOP (there are options for pegged Shop Order, pegged Purchase Order, PMRP and MRP only).Project Deliverables is really great mechanism to have everything under one umbrella, but what I am really strongly missing is the functionality to garantee the time dependencies in production planning of particular Shop Orders organized in the multilevel structure like in DOP.We are able to generate independent pegged shop orders connected to given Activity No, but without any connection among them. It means that we cannot garantee by the plan that the finish good will be planned and produced after all its semifinish parts will be planned / finished. Can be easily handled by the time dependency/timelag.I understand that demands of Project Deliverables are connected to activities of the project and we are able to drive the planning partially by the project activity based level. IFS connect stop work after upgrading from IFS9 to IFS10

Hi, all,In my test pass of upgrading IFS9 to IFS10, I found the IFS connect for our EDI message stopped working, it just did not pick up the xml files as in IFS9. The original setting in the FTP Reader, Routing Rule and Routing Address looked normal, but after putting the uploading xml file in the FTP site, nothing happened (In IFS9, the uploading files will disappear within minutes). And there were no any messags under Application Messages, either error or successful. Could anyone shred some insight to me ?thanks in advance,David
