If the requirement was to upload 8,00,000 images in media library. Would it be advisable to load it in database?  What is the expected growth in the size of the database? If not in media library, is the only other alternative isto store in Docman?.  

Is there any way to use metadata on document revisions other than creating custom fields?

Is there a way in Apps8 to put automatically a generated report into Document management and attach it to the business object ?When printing a purchase order, we would like to have the report created in the docman and attach automatically it to the concerned logical unit. And after that, how to send by email the attached documents ? For example, the drawing is attached to the inventory part. With the object connection transformation, the drawing is coming in the attachments of the PO. But how to include this document in the email ?

My customer are in APP10 UPD12 using only Aurena client and MS AAD. They are going to start using the DOCMAN..Here is the question I received from customer “ I need to know the impact of Document Management on the system?  We are looking at approximately 1 million + documents per year.  What is the impact of using the default repository?  What options are available?  Ect" I have also read it in community note that “to over come the growing database concern, customer could opt for the other repository options which is already there in the document management.Those other options are FTP and shared folders (on the application server itself or on a network share).”But in another answer FTP and Shared document repositories are currently not supported there. Could someone clarify the above so we can give them a firm solution for this please?  Thank youUma Selvaraj

Hello,yesterday after power outage(restart all servers) we are not able to attach document to any IFS object (CustomerOrder, PurchaseOrder) that has diacritic in filename (NabídkaMŠ.pdf). We are not able even open(see) the documents, that have been already saved in IFS before (for example 3 weeks ago) and have diacritic filenames. The documents without diacritic we can attach and see in IFS.Very strange behaviour.Any help please?Jan West

For customer on APPS10, soon to be on IFS Cloud 21R1, On a work order, is there a way to get attached documents to print to a specific printer?In existing functionality where you can “Print attached documents” from work order guidelines, it will download docman document and then print to the default printer installed on device running the IFS application.Could it be possible to setup so that certain doc classes for example, gets routed to specific printers? Similar to our Printer Definition for operational reports functionality?Any ideas how to create such a modification, or configure it to do that? This is a question i have gotten few times by different customers. For example, drawings needs to go to a certain color printer, while work instructions or other attached pdf documents should go to a black and white printer in a different area. Hi,This is related to a prospect customization in Aurena App10 (UPD9):One of our Customers has a requirement to open documents (Word or Excel) in an editable mode once it is uploaded to IFS DocMan through the attachment panel. Then the User is allowed to do required changes to the document content, and upon closing the document it should be automatically checked-in to IFS.I would highly appreciate if you can respond whether this is a feasible solution or if you have any previous experience related to this.

Hi All,There is a request from a customer to customize the Attachments Panel in IFS Aurena (APP10 - UPD9),  to convert  the documents attached using the below options in the attachment panel as a PDF Document upon creating the document. This can be used for any of the file types (Word / Excel). Both Original version and the created PDF should be stored in DocMan. I would highly appreciate if you can respond whether this is a feasible solution or if you have any previous experience related to this

Hi,IFSAPP10, Aurena with IFS Aurena Agent and IFS Aurena Extension, DocMan with Macro and open Word. When I have use edit document, word file has been checked out according user settings, but word does not open with word file. How can we open world file directly after checkout with Aurena Client?

I need to give access to a user for a particular document classI did this using window “Document Management\Basic Data\Document Basic → Access Template tab”. i.e. Person is added to the document class and given view and edit access.After this security refresh still my user cant access the attachments done by other users. When this access is given to the user can he view documents attached in the application by other users as well?Or do I have to setup something else?  Do I need to give the “Docman Administrator” system privilege to the user to do this? version: Application 10 UPD 7

Hi,it's the first time that one of our customers would like to use DocMan with Aurena client. I’ve already learned that 'Document Import Action' will not be available. Are there any alternatives to customize an Outlook integration? (Panel functionality won’t be sufficient to meet customer’s expectation.) Are there more features or functionalities that are not available with Aurena? HelloWe are discussing about implementing Export Control in IFS 10.9 that we are using right now. Did a few tests with regards to PO and CO. Can anyone advise how does Export Control work with RMA (a test plan world be ideal - is it similar to CO? Denied Parties have to be excluded?)  DocMan before releasing a PO / CO, authorization by the Procurement / Sales Manager is mandatory in our business. In that case, do you think checking for Import / Export License can also be done during the authorization? We get this error when trying to upload a document, using IFS  Batch_Transfer_Handler_API.Upload_To_Ftp: ORA-20105: PlsqlapServer.ERRINV: Failed to upload file to Ftp server [\\<server>\F$\path\to\file\filename.pdf (Access is denied)]Caused by: ifs.fnd.base.SystemException: Failed to upload file to Ftp server [\\<server>\F$\path\to\file\filename.pdf (Access is denied)] The server is were the source file is which should be moved to the ftp-server. I want to copy a file that’s in Aurena (actually it’s in THOR) to a local directory.  But, I  am not seeing “Copy File” functionality.  Did it go somewhere?  I’m also not seeing this in a standard version that’s in a customer’s database.

A customer of mine (Karachi Shipyards-Pakistan) requests guidance in selecting a FTP server for DOCMAN. Is there any guidelines on specifications of a FTP server? May be on OS, Memory etc. Please share any document you may have on this. Thank you!

 When uploading one or multiple documents with specified document class, can system automatically place these documents into a document folder without manually specifying which folder? This means that document folder has been setup to be mapped to a document class.  Can a user or user group be given access to a Document Folder instead of by Document Class? If yes, once the user logs in, can the user only see the document folder where user has access to?  Can a person/person group see/filter only the document class that user has access to?   Is there a self-service portal for users - with a lobby where they can see only documents, document classes and document folder that user has at least view access?  Is it possible to see how many/what document views/downloads a user has done?  Is it possible to define the validity of user access to a document class/folder by person group instead of by person?  External customer would like to subscribe and view documents, but only document in specifi

Hi,We currently have an issue with one of our FTP servers that we use for DOCMAN so I moved all repositories to the other FTP server we use..I’ve moved all the existing files to the new FTP and created new repository, but now we still can’t view the existing documents so I’m assuming IFS is still looking at the ‘old’ location. Do I need to run the ‘Change Document Repository’ utility so IFS will look at the new location? Thanks,Mick.

Can someone please tell me how can I enable this media attachment option in another window?Example: This is now available in NCR window.
