Preparing for IFS Cloud Upgrade: Key Areas, Courses and Training required in advance

We upgraded from Apps 9 to IFS Cloud in July 2023. Here is some info.

Differences - Key differences that we observed.

• Technology
  • Architecture (on-premises) - Kubernetes Middle-Tier replaces MWS.
  • Data Migration - We used MTK, now licensed by Astra-Canyon but other options available.
  • BuildPlace - Used to complete development.
  • APIs - Integration can be done with APIs if licensed.
• Aurena - Requires training but was well-adopted in our case; configurable with:
  • Global Context - Used for configuring screens, column layouts, Command Buttons (Context Menus), field names / locations.
  • Profiles - Can import / export for configuring saved searches, bookmarks, start page, 
• Reporting - Different options available for reporting - Lobbies; Business Reporter; Faster SQL Quick Reports; OSD / Toad requires DB account.
• Security - Cloud uses Projections; Cloud users no longer have Oracle User IDs.
• Maintenance - Maintenance changed a lot between Apps 9 and Cloud

Training - IFS Academy training completed by technical IT team members.

May I request you to share about how your IT team get the detail knowledge on Workflow Design & manage, Page Design, Manage build place related area ? 

Here are some ways to get detailed knowledge.

• Workflow Design & manage - It’s covered in the Business Process Automation training that I mentioned. “In this course you will explore the new capabilities of Business Process Automation. What Is BPA in IFS Cloud? Business Process Management Notation. Workflow Designer. User Interaction Business Process Automation (BPA)” and more.
• Page Design - The user manual gives a good description of this. I also see some videos on YouTube. There is probably some training available on this as well from IFS Academy. You could check with Yogi about that. His email is kandasamy.yogendirakumar@ifs.com. 
• Manage Build Places - Would start with the Cloud Build Place training that I mentioned and then take the training on IFS Cloud Build Places – Best Practices and Guidelines for CRIM Development.
