Tool A has been checked out, and Tool A can still be assigned on a work task, does the system not have a corresponding restriction or reminder.

Explanation

Perform this activity to check out tools and equipment for work task resource demands.

Check Out Work Task Tool/Equipment Demands page can be used to check out tools and equipment that are required to execute work tasks. Before checking out, tool/equipment demands can be filtered out based on different dimensions. For example, by using the Assignee field and selecting a Person ID of a technician, it is possible to identify the tool/equipment demands needed for him/her to perform the assigned tasks. Once the required tool/equipment demand are selected, click the Check Out option to open the Check Out assistant. From the assistant, select the person ID of the person who is accepting the tools and equipment from the tool crib. If a work assignment is already created for a tool/equipment demand those demands will be immediately checked out and for the tool/equipment demand that doesn't have work assignments, it is possible to create work assignments from the assistant and check them out. Allocated HoursAllocated Start and Allocated Finish fields in the check out details section can be used to complete the tool/equipment demand lines that doesn't have work assignments. If the allocated tool/equipment is changed from the Check Out assistant for an already created assignment, a new assignment will be created for the newly selected tool/Equipment.

Note: If security checkpoint is enabled, sign off is required when checking out tools and equipment from the Tools and Equipment Check Out page.

Tools and equipment can also be checked out from the work task/work assignments. Check Out option is enabled for tool/equipment assignment lines from the following pages.

  • Work Task/Assignments
  • Execute Work Task/Work Assignments
  • Work Assignments

From these pages individual or multiple tool/equipment can be checked out to the logged in user.

Prerequisites

  • Tool/Equipment groups in resource demands should have enabled Tool Tracking.
  • Check out status of the tools and equipment should be Checked In.
  • If the tool/Equipment has a serial object connection, connected part serial should be in Operational condition.
  • Allow Tool/Equipment Self Check Out, needs to be enabled.

System Effects

  • Tool/Equipment is checked out and Check Out Status and Checked Out To fields are updated.
  • Check out history record is created for the checked out tools and equipment in the Tool/Equipment Check Out History page and in the Check Out History tab in Tool/Equipment page.
  • New work assignments will be created, and their status will be set to Assigned.
