I have a client that is required by the government to have all website and applications meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. Does IFS meet those standards? If so, where can I find that information or do you have something you can send to me showing it meets them?

Thank you,

Erik

Here you can read the accessibility statement for IFS, we do not meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standards but are working towards it: https://design.ifs.com/15d09a779/p/596e9e-statement/b/292493

We are working towards being compliant to WCAG 2.1 AA as stated in our Accessibility statement.  Please see our accessibility statement.

As you can see below we have been continuously working on Accessibility in the areas of Perceivable and Operable. Currently we are putting more effort towards Operability. There is a large scope to be covered.

Our development focus is on IFS Cloud web. IFS Cloud apps (like MWO) and PSO are in initial research phase. We are working towards compliance to WCAG 2.1 AA. We are committed to continue our efforts on this initiative but we cannot commit to a dates of compliance to WCAG 2.1 AA.

Could you let us know the country/region of your client and more information on the government regulation your client is aiming to be compliant?

Thank you all for your replies. The client is in the UK. The government is requiring that any COTS application needs to be WCAG 2.1 AA and The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (as per existing organizational responsibility under the Equality Act 2010) compliance, and the system needs to be used by people with disabilities as defined by the Academic Network of European Disability Standards. These are three big requirements. Do you have any information that IFS is compliance with the above acts and standards?  Thank you.

Like Tove and Wyomi pointed out, we are working towards WCAG 2.x Level AA compliance. I write 2.x since 2.2 is just out, but most significant changes in 2.2 are about Level AAA.

We are fully committed to meeting this global standard, but we cannot say that we are fully meeting the AA level today. However, we can't work against regional and local standards, but we lean on the global WCAG which covers the most important aspects of accessibility.

Of course, we understand that in some industries and regions/countries there are specific standards, in particular in public sector or gov organizations; we see ADA with Section 508 in the US, BITV in Germany, etc. In Asia there are Japanese Industrial Standards X8341-3 and in China national accessibility standards with GB/T 37668-2019, etc.

However, most standards are a subset of WCAG, and some are supersets of WCAG. Some of these also include services and tools in addition to software.

However, when it comes to the use of IFS Cloud, WCAG covers most things, and is based on 4 main guiding principles of accessibility perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.

Here is an update on what we have done since the last post. I have dropped mobility since we are not focusing on native apps at the moment.
