We have a user that is able to use v14.5 (HF26) in our office without any issues.  When this person works from home and uses the VPN, they are able to log in however they get the following error message when they try to open a module.  We have tried a number of things including clearing cache, setting different default internet browsers, using different WIFI networks, however none of this makes a difference.

This user had the same issue roughly a month ago and we had to resort to rebuilding the PC with an image and set everything back up.  This resolved the issue however after about a month we are back to this issue.  We have also checked/reviewed any recent PC updates since the issue came back up.

Has anyone seen this error message below?  My next step will be to open a support ticket, however I wanted to first check with the community.  Thank you in advance.

Sorry, not sure why it did not come through the first time.

Hi Nick,
Is your Alliance application accessible externally without VPN or does the VPN HAVE to be connected in order to connect and log in?  (if it’s accessible without VPN have the same user disconnect it temporarily and see if the error is still getting thrown at that point...)
Thanks,
Reid

Hi Nick,

I don’t know what is causing the problem you are encountering and as Ugo mentions, we need to know the error message at least.  (sorry, see you uploaded this while I was composing below)

Given that it works fine on your internal network but not externally, perhaps there is something going on with the different networks/ipconfiguration on his client.  What you could try for now are the following commands from the command prompt on his client.  No guarantees this gets him back online.

ipconfig /flushdns

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

netsh winsock reset

netsh int ip reset

Then reboot the computer.

Another thing to check is if IPv4 in enabled in his network connection and try disabling IPv6 (just for a test).

Hi Reid, yes VPN is required in order to access Astea.  We are looking to enable HTTPS after our v15.4 upgrade.
