Hello All,

Can we upgrade IFS9 to 24.2.2 directly in one step upgrade?
Has anyone done this already -- remote deployment model.

Thanks,
Hardik

Got confirmation from another post.

This change for the direct upgrade approach is only effecting from 25R1 for Apps 9 customers so there is no change when customers upgrading from Apps9 to a earlier version. Similarly, for Apps 8 customer the direct upgrade path deprecation is effective from 24R1 and later versions.

Please refer to the attached document in this KBA and 24R1 and 25R1 deprecation logs (links are provided in the article) for more details.

Hi Hardik,

According to the documentaion this may not be possible or advised. We upgraded from Apps9 to 23.1.10 which is supported:

Index - Technical Documentation For IFS Cloud

Note: IFS Cloud only supports direct upgrades from IFS Applications 8 or later. Upgrades from earlier versions must be done in two steps. IFS Cloud also supports upgrades from Global Extension versions 9 and 10. Please refer to the section Upgrade from Extensions for more information.

But there has been a change in the documentation between V23R2 and V24R1 and it now says:

Technical changes related to IFS Cloud - Technical Documentation For IFS Cloud

Note: IFS Cloud only supports direct upgrades from IFS Applications 10. Upgrades from IFS Applications 8 must be done in two steps. (The two-step upgrade path is planned for IFS Applications 9 in a future release). IFS Cloud also supports upgrades from Global Extension versions 9 and 10. Please refer to the Upgrade from Extensions section for more information.

Jumpping to 24.2.2 may not be best anyway dependign on your implimentation timeline, 23R1 and R2 are pretty mature and stable at this point and that may be a better platform, then jump to 24R1 or R2 at a later date when the bugs have been worked out.

Hope this helps,

Alex

@hardik , direct upgrade from IFS Apps9 to IFS Cloud 24R2 should be possible.

I believe from 25R1 onwards this will change and you’ll have upgrade to IFS Apps10 first and then upgrade to IFS Cloud

Thanks @PROAHAR !

But it is not mentioned anywhere, we cannot go ahead with direct upgrade from IFS9 to cloud.
It says 2 step approach is planned from 25R1 onwards.

Also referring to the documents attached on this url:-

https://community.ifs.com/updates-and-upgrades-324/what-are-ifs-cloud-upgrade-paths-and-what-changes-for-the-direct-upgrade-path-for-ifs-applications-8-ifs-applications-9-customers-from-ifs-cloud-24r1-ifs-cloud-25r1-respectively-48870?postid=191804#post191804

Based on above i need to know what extra things or challenges we need to consider for direct upgrade, as i see its feasible at the moment and 25R1 onwards there will be 2 steps method for ifs9 upgrade to cloud.

Thanks,
Hardik
