I have a three part question that has to do with IFS’s supply and demand capabilities:

  1. Is it possible to use enter a forecast, plan supply, and generate an MRP for a part(s) without actually generating shop order reqs, purchase reqs, or distribution orders. In other words, use IFS’s demand and supply capabilities to plan supply chain scenarios for new products that may be still be considered in a development stage (pre-production) and not yet released to market. We currently use Master Scheduling and MRP to generate supply requirements.
  2. Is it possible to replenish certain parts (finished goods) to DC’s but restrict or not allow shipments of those parts to customers. We replenish DC’s via distribution orders from other DC’s and manufacturing plants, and direct shipments from external suppliers. We do have site supply chain matrixes setup as well as a multi-site Planning Network.
  3. Our DC’s are setup as different sites, and I am not sure if by this setup we are actually functioning within IFS’ DRP capabilities. Is DRP a seperate interface/functional page that needs to be configured and setup or is it just a bunch of related configurations that allow IFS to produce DRP related tasks.

@eknock007 I’d venture for an answer:

  1. the sole function of the MRP is to create supply requests (purchase reqs and shop order reqs). You may wanna have a look at Demand Planner. I guess this could be helpful in your scenario. Here’s a link to a PPT and and a 1 hr long video/demo
  2. You could use Inventory Part Status to block demands on a certain inventory part. This will block creation of new Customer Orders not just the shipments. If you want to only block the shipments/delivery, then I guess you’ll need a custom event or a Workflow to do that
  3. Not sure what you mean by DRP?

Thank you for your response. DRP is Distribution Resource Planning and I have read in this community of people referencing its use in IFS. Not sure if it is a feature or if they had some sort of custom setup.
