Hi,

We are having ongoing issues with our Honeywell android devices running IFS Aurena Scan It 10.

We’ve completed a wifi survey and there have been not dropped packets or connection seems good.

Error examples are

An error has occurred - initCommand: Failed to read value from SiteVirtualStructVar.Contract

One or more errors occured. (Function<GetDataCollectionProcessOnline>:Failed to assign a value to Result. Value = ‘True’)

Action<StartSession>:Failed to assign value to result. Value=’True’

This can be when they have just completed a Move Handling Unit process and then attempt to do it again. It can also occur when they complete a process, put the gun down to perform the manual task and on resuming using the app get a load of errors.

Any help or troubleshooting tips would be much appreciated.

I’ve attached some screen shots. Our IFS tas server is hosted by IFS.

Thanks,

Fiona :)

Errors as shown on scanning guns

Hi

Do you get this problem a lot?

We have seen this error before and also tried to correct it in just the version of Scan It that you are using. We have tried to replicate this issue in our own environments and have not been able to recreate it ourselves. We have also been in contact with customers who have had the same problem in an earlier version of Scan IT app and also tried together with those customers to recreate it. It is an issue that has been very difficult to recreate and even the customer’s we have been in contact with have not been able to recreate it on the calls we have had with them together.

Please report this to IFS with as much information about how to recreate it and if you can see any pattern when this happen.

Regards

Johan

Thanks Johan.

We’ve experienced issues with the Scan IT app since we went live with IFS & we’ve gone through multiple versions of the app. We’ve seen some improvements but many persist. We’re also an IFS Managed Cloud customer and not having visibility of the TAS & MWS configuration makes troubleshooting tricky sometimes.

We’ve raises a support case with IFS but if anybody has any tips on troubleshooting touch app/TAS connectivity issues that would be appreciated.

Thanks
Anthony

@JOOLSE  looking at those errors they seem to all happen around functions when the menu is created and shown or when you try to start a new session from the menu. Maybe some memory leak or garbage collection issue.

The scanit code for that have hardly changed during the last 1-2 years so something must have happened in the Native FW is my best guess.

@Dario Zani yes it is most likely garbage collecor in Android and that is what we have been looking into and done changes to. We need to look at this yet again. And it is the Aurena Native version of Scan It that does have this problem, not the legacy version of Scan It.

Thanks both for your input.

We are trialling the iOS version of Scan It Aurena today and we noticed we get this pop up about expired credentials which we don’t in the Android version - it tends to freeze, return a blank screen or error as above.

Could the Android app be experiencing the same expired credential issue but not giving the end user the feedback?

Hi @FionaBrown ,

Did you able to find solution for mentioned issue  initCommand: Failed to read value from SiteVirtualStructVar.Contract? we are also facing this kind of errors and freeze and blank screen in aurena scan it devices. Can you kindly share your thoughts?

Thank you

sara

What client app version are you using? we did a correction on this and delivered this on Apps10.

Hi @JOOLSE ,

currently, we are in IFS application update 10 and Client version is 10.10.17.0 and Server version is 10.9.7.0
also, the touch apps server version is 10.10.301.0 and we are using IFS Aurena Scan It 10 .So you guys did correction for

initCommand: Failed to read value from SiteVirtualStructVar.Contract issue? we got same kind of issue yesterday, (see image)We already updated our aurena devices to latest client version,so client version atleast 10.20.

Thanks

Sara

We did this correction for Apps10 UPD17 in TAS. So your version of the TAS this correction does not exist in.

Hi @JOOLSE ,

We also get some white screen , freeze windows every time when users are working. are there fixes for these kind of issues in latest updates? check below link also this is another issue we get every time Aurena Scan IT Login credentials Expired frequently | IFS Community

Thanks

sara

We have corrected one white screen issue and that is already included in Apps10 UPD20, which is the latest released client.

In apps10 the login credentials and how often that should come is sather a setup issue in the environment. It depends how it is set up and if you are using SSO as well. I am not that good at that part of the setup though
