We have received a 3gp-video file from a customer that our support team wants to add to a service order. This format is forbidden by default - any concerns about allowing it?

Hi Bjørn,

Yes, you can allow the upload of this filetype.  Generally, filetypes are not allowed unless specifically stated where you made the change via the Configuration Editor in the Globals section for the profile.

As a general indication, it is your responsibility to have enough security in place to prevent these files from being a vector for malware.

it is possible for .3GP files to carry malware. While .3GP is a multimedia container format primarily used for video and audio files, any file type can potentially be exploited to deliver malware if it is processed by a vulnerable program.

However, the same thing can be said for .docx or .pdf files too.  Most likely you will not have an issue but cannot rule out the possibility.

Alliance does not use .3GP files itself so it is your clients/services and other apps that need to manage the security when it is opened, etc.

Hope this clarifies.
