Question

Bulk data import on IFS8 using Excel

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me with a question regarding IFS8.

I’m trying to find a more efficient way to upload bulk data into IFS using Excel. Apart from the standard Data Migration tool, is there any alternative method?

For example, since we’re able to export data from IFS to Excel, I’m wondering if there’s a way to update that same file and then push the changes back into IFS — essentially creating a live link or a quick import method. Is that kind of integration possible?

The reason I ask is that I'm currently spending a lot of time manually entering data into IFS — line by line — which is very time-consuming and inefficient.

Any suggestions or best practices would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi @CharisG,

It’s been a while since “8” for me, but I’ve used to use the Excel Data Migration to both pull and push data.  Does the 8 version query, would that work for you?

Cheers, Troy

You can use “the magic speedsheet” to copy and paste. It takes data from Excel and puts it onto the clipboard in a format that can be paste directly into IFS.
