A quick functional question related to DOP which I encountered with one of the customers.
Questions:
In APP9 DOP orders have the non-consumed items with the quantities. More specifically, unlike in APP8, when we bring in DOP structures in APP9, the structures come in with quantity for all non-consumed components.
Like your advice and view point on this regards.

In IFSAPP9, main purpose of this change is to provide information to the user regarding the component requirement as defined in the product structure.
Hence in APP9 we recommend that to change the consumption of a Not Consumed part in the product structure itself (qty per assembly=0) if you do not want quantity in DOP structure for that particular part or if you still expecting APP7.5 behavior we have to execute a modification/customization (which is billable) to overcome this situation.
However in App9 if still you proceed with quantity for non-consumed components in a DOP structure and there will be not consumed in the material issue process for those component parts.

I also have this situation in Cloud. We have left the qty of non-consumed in the product structure as a placeholder. Like Apps 9, Cloud is creating a DOP order for these components but with no supply (because it’s non-consumed).

The problem now is that these DOP orders never close automatically because there is nothing to supply. I appreciate you are saying make the qty zero but I am sure lots of businesses leave a qty for non-consumed parts so the shop floor know how many they need. The cost of these parts can be accounted for via other means so cost isn't the issue. It’s the auto closing of the DOP orders (or rather the fact that someone has to manually close these) that's the problem.

There doesn't appear to be any DOP type cleanup jobs that could resolve these sorts of DOP branches.

Appreciate any suggestions because we now have literally thousands of these DOP order still open, which of course ripple to the top level DOP, which is also still open even though the parts have been shipped and any customer order line invoiced/closed.

@Manxmano if you are not using Full Level as the Structure Depth, could you change the Default Supply Type for these Not Consumed components to Requisition, and not DOP?

Thanks Matt. I’ll take a look but it might be academic as there is no supply order shown underneath the DOP order, there’s just a DOP order placeholder. But what do you mean by “full level”?

Matt, the default supply type for the non consumed parts is Requisition. I assumed that’s why there is just a DOP order placeholder with no supply order in the DOP. But I’m just surprised these DOP orders don’t just close automatically.

@matt.watters Hi Matt, I am a bit puzzled now because the Structure Depth setting on the DOP Header Details is “DOP Parts”, it isn't “Full Level”. Do you have any suggestions why it is creating a DOP Order placeholder for the non-consumed Requisition planned parts?

@Manxmano in my quick testing in an Apps10 world with Structure Depth = DOP Parts and my non-consumed parts set as Requisition with a QPA > 0 in the Product structure, I created the DOP Structure from my BOM/Routing and the process did not create DOP Orders for my non-consumed components.

@matt.watters okay, interesting, do you access to a 24R1 Cloud environment because it is def doing that. These highlighted parts are all non consumed , QPA>0 and requisition planned

@Manxmano I am seeing the same behavior as you in a 24.2.6 world, where the DOP Orders are being created for Requisition/Not Consumed parts where the DOP Header Structure Depth = DOP Parts.

This is leading me to think it’s a bug where the system is ignoring the Supply Type when creating the Structure as I get DOP Orders for parts that are set to Requisition/Consumed with DOP Header Structure Depth = DOP Parts.

@Björn Hultgren any thoughts on this?
