Control plan - Specification limits for attribute data
Dear community,
IFS 8 allowed to put specification limits (outer/inner min, outer/inner max) and nominal value on control plans for a data points of type “Attribute”.
In VCloud 22R2, it is not allowed.
Is there any configuration that is available that would enable the use of values in the Min and Max fields for a data point of type “attribute”.
The goal is to give to the operator the dimensions to meet but the measured value is not fulfilled in the analysis result. We only need to know the number of non-conforming parts.
Thanks for your help

Hi,
It appears that the functionality was changed in IFS Applications 9 to prevent these parameters from being entered against Date Types = ‘Attribute’.
One option (using standard functionality) is to include these details as free text in the Product Characteristic field (if it’s not being used for another purpose);
The operator can then view this when entering analysis results;
Alternatively, new custom fields could be added to the screens but that would require Configuration.
I hope this helps.
Hi @Carole,
In addition to Richard's answer, I would like to point out that the Min and Max fields for a data point of type "attribute" are not displayed in the analysis for the type in the Cloud. So it would not benefit you if you could enter values there. That's why my customers also use the solution with one of the "characteristic" fields or direct in the Test Operation Description in the control plan line.
An alternative way to deal with this would be to use the Data Type “Categorical”. This Data Type is an alternative way of dealing with attribute data.
Define a Category Data Type, it could look something like this:
Create a categorical control plan line that is connected to this Category ID:
Set Category Entry Type to “Multiple Row” in the control plan header and activate the control plan:
Entering the inspection results in the Analysis Result would look like this:
In the example above 10 items were inspected. 9 items were within specification and 1 item above specification.
Hi @Peter Lundgren,
Also a very good approach. However, it should be mentioned that the categories cannot be used with the category type "Multiplw Row" for serial tracked parts because IFS does not (currently?) allow this.
Thank you all for your suggestions !
We will put these values in the characteristic field
