Even when the "Schedule Direction" on Operations tab in Shop Order is set to "Manual Scheduling" and once the user reschedule the shop order with APB, "Schedule Direction" of Operations tab in Shop Order gets automatically changed to "Backward Scheduling”. Any reason why this happens?

Moreover, is it a problem to change "Schedule Direction" of Operations tab in Shop Order to "Manual Scheduling" when using APB?

Hi Ushan,

APB is not designed to handle different scheduling directions in the same operation structure ( in this case the shop order). There are couple of reasons. One is it is extremely complex to build a logic to handle different scheduling directions within the operation structure and at the same time follow the finite rules . The other is a functional reason.  If a planner wants to maintain finite operation schedule , then why the planner himself tries to intervene and change and keep the some operations as manual schedule ?  Is there any valid functional reason for the planner to set some operations manual schedule ?  Can “split” functionality be used ? curious to know.

Let s say we allow it. Then there will be lot of gaps within one shop order and that would create building up WIP thorough the life span of the shop order.
