Hi all,

What are the fields in the Measurement System Analysis Detail area on the Manufacturing Tool page used for?

Could you elaborate on an example and share your experiences?

Thanks

Ozge

Hi Ozge

The measurement system analysis (MSA) assesses the suitability and capability of the measuring equipment and the entire measuring system. A reliable assessment of the process quality can only be made if it is clear which fluctuations a measurement result is subject to solely as a result of the scattering of the measurement system

In my view, this is purely for information purposes; these values make it easier to decide whether the production/measuring tool can be used for a measurement.

For example:

Discrimination:
Smallest change that the measuring equipment can recognise

E.g. Micrometer
- can recognise a change of 0.01mm

Linearity:
Linearity is used to evaluate the difference in the average systematic measurement deviations over the expected operating range of the measurement system. Linearity indicates whether the measuring device has the same accuracy for all sizes of measured test objects.

Repeatability:
With a multiple measurement of an estimator.

e.g. calliper gauge
+/- 0.04mm

But I till did not a customer which use that.
So there is no practical experience from my site.
