IFS Apps 9 database backup error

Forum|alt.badge.img+8

Hello - looking for any Oracle database experts out there….

We use a database backup tool named Unitrends to backup our instance of IFS.  The tool basically leverages RMAN to backup Oracle using the ARC archive files created.  We are having an issue when trying to run the process, has anyone ever seen the following error? We are using Windows Server 2012 R2 as our database server:

I am struggling to understand how to grant a Windows user account DBA privileges?

Any ideas on this?

Many thanks!!

Hi , Please check this as well.

Additional Privileges Required by Oracle Database Services

Certain functions performed by the Oracle Database service require additional privileges.

Oracle Universal Installer and other Oracle tools automatically grant the following privileges to the Windows services SID of the respective services during the creation of these services:

  • SeBackupPrivilege: This privilege is required to perform backup operations. It is granted to the Windows service SIDs of Oracle VSS Writer service.

Have you tried adding the Windows User account to ORA_DBA Windows Security Group under Computer Management?

when Oracle gets installed on a server, it creates few groups incl. ORA_DBA

@svrmhuebner

1. From the windows services window. Check the "OracleVssWriterXXXX" service user
2. Add the user to "ora_dba" Oracle DBA Group.

This should solve your issue
