Hi,

Currently running IFS10 with a many IALs. Will we be able to maintain, modify and create new IALs in the IFS Cloud? If it’s possible in the current version of Cloud, will it also be possible to do in future versions?

I’ve read somewhere they are to be deprecated but that information seems old and I can’t find it mentioned in the current documentation for IFS Cloud 24R2.

Would appreciate if someone from IFS could clarify.

Hi Joan,

Please look to these two links, and see below for my thoughts after reading the community and documentation.

Current Support for IALs in IFS Cloud (24R2)
Maintaining Current IALs: Yes, IALs built in IFS 10 can normally be moved to IFS Cloud. However, you may need to test their compatibility.

Modifying and Creating New IALS:It is possible to modify and create new IALs in IFS Cloud. But the platform is putting more emphasis on using reporting frameworks like IFS Data Sources.

"If it’s possible in the current version of Cloud, will it also be possible to do in future versions?”

IALs may be deprecated in favor of IFS Data Sources, per previous information received from IFS but this information appears to have been re-evaluated, as IALs are still available in IFS Cloud 24R2. :-)

IFS's long-term strategy implies a gradual transition to more modern, adaptable options. Future versions of IFS Cloud might remove or limit IALs in favor of better-performing alternatives like: IFS Data Sources or Business Reporter with Power BI integration or RESTful APIs.
