Hi All,

I would like to know your thoughts regarding this functionality

Can we find the old functionality “Round Work Order” in Apps 10?

If we can’t, how that functionality is replaced in Apps 10 from Apps 8?

Thanks and regards,

Hasani

It was replaced with the Grouped and Grouped/Merged functionality.

... together with PM Actions, in case what Jerry wrote was not clear enough.

Hi @Hasani Aparna

In addition to the above, please check this previous community post as well.

From Apps 10 there will be just one way of handling work orders, that earlier was divided in Separate Work Orders and Route Work Orders.

By that there is no need for both Separate and Route PM Actions and both types have now been merged into one common PM Action template.

All this is done to align with the new Work Task functionality.

This introduced several ways to group PM Actions together into same Work Order.

  • PM Group - Can either be used on it’s own or together with Merge.
  • Merge - Can only be used together with PM Group.
  • PM Grouping Rules – Can only be used on it’s own.

PM Group:

First concept to generate and group more than one PM Action into same Work Order.

All Work List lines from the PM Action(s) will become Work Tasks on the Work Order that is generated.

PM Grouping will be used as a replacement for the route handling on both PM Action and Work Order side.

Can be seen as a replacement for the route handling on PM action and work order side.

PM Group and Merge:

Second concept to generate and group+merge more than one PM Action into same Work Order.

All Work List lines from the PM Action(s) that are merged will become Work Task Steps on the Work Order that is generated.

If there are any Work List lines from the PM Action(s) that can not be  merged, they can still be grouped into same Work Order as Work Tasks.

Some other requirements that allows a PM action to be part of a merge;

  •      Only one work list line should exist on PM Action
  •      Same requirements regarding resources (person and tool/equipment) and material should be there on the work list line
  •      If available on the PM actions there should be same customer, service contract, location and work type specified.

PM Grouping Rule:

Third concept to generate more than one PM Action into same Work Order.

Possible to add a grouping rule to the PM Action using one or more predefined parameters as base for grouping into a Work Order.

PM grouping rules cannot be used in combination with PM group / merge functionality.

It is possible to select one or more parameters from a pre-defined list which ones to be used for a certain Rule ID.

A work order will be created for each different value of the parameter defined for the PM Grouping Rule, or for each combination if there are several parameters defined.

Each work list line from the PM actions included will become a work task line on the work order.

Example:

If Maintenance Organization is selected as the only parameter for a Rule ID: ’X’, there will be one work order generated per valid maintenance organization for the PM actions generated using Rule ID=’X’.

One work order will be generated for PM Group ID=’X’ and Maint Org: ’MEC’.
