We have an issue when trying to report an add investment through a PO. The fixed asset reference is provided. However, results in an error in the Accounting tab of the purchase transaction history “No further acquisition possible for object (Object ID). FA will not be updated” the PO is in the closed status.
As a result, the period cannot be closed and transactions remain in the ‘distribution and manufacturing transactions’. Please advise on how this can be corrected.

Well, If Fixed asset is activated already, Add Investment action is possible from FA module only.
In general it is not the best idea to set posting rules from PO to FA Acquisition account directly.
I do not know if you are using inventory or-non-inventory purchase, I have always used solution either with Automatic Posting Rules based on transaction code (M93 for non-inventory purchase, proper issue transaction code for inventory case) to activate purchase cost (in case of GL Update error you can then deactivate APR and perform FA operation instead) or with manual acquisition process (Import for new assets, Add Investment for active) - in this case Automatic posting rule is triggered to dedicated construction in progress account.
In your case, to eliminate posting error you should update PO line preposting (removing or changing reference to object id) and then remove posting errors (Rerun Erroneous Accountings) and use FA Add Investment action and manual voucher to activate purchase cost.
