Hi Community.

We are using Apps 10, UPD9 and have run into an issue with repair orders and i am hoping that someone may know of a solution.

If we use the “Create Repair Order Assistant” this process allows you to define a Serial Object, a Workshop and will set up the work tasks, material requisition and return lines required to receive a part, have it worked on in the workshop and then re-issued into the object structure.

We are looking into the functionality of using the “Turn into Repair Order” which is available on the Prepare Work Order screen.  This asks us for the repair workshop but doenst create any work tasks, materials or returns lines to facilitate the move.  This function also takes the serial object and moves it directly to the workshop (without us returning and issuing)

The issue we have identified with this, is that we can now not remove those parts from the Workshop object.  We cannot issue them, return them, move them manually or place the object in facility from the report in screen. The object is stuck.

Has anyone come across this issue previously or have any work arounds that they can reccomend

many thanks

Chris

Hi,

Kindly check whether below information helps.

Now the Turn in to Repair Order' functionality is removed.

Explanation from RnD:

'Turn in to Repair Order' RMB option has been removed from the 'Prepare Work Order' window and  'Create Repair Work Order' RMB option will be included instead.

When there is a requirement to create a repair work order for the serial object connected to a particular WO the users will be able to create it through the newly introduced RMB option, 'Create Repair Work Order'.

When the user select the RMB option, 'Create Repair Work Order Assistant - Serial Object' step of the assistant will be open with the serial object's data already populated in to it so that the users can simply continue the flow and create a repair work order as they do normally with the Create Repair Work Order Assistant. Thereby a new repair WO will be created which has the source information about the WO from which this repair work order got initiated. The user, then has the choice to either close the first WO or continue to use that to perform any other Work related to the maintenance action, while using the newly created repair WO for the repair activity of the relevant Serial Object. Since through the new RMB option we open up a step in the existing 'Create Repair Work Order Assistant', as per the current functionality the work task, return line and the material line to issue the Serial part to repair will be automatically created so that the users will be able to carry on the usual repair flow which they are used to do in Application 10. Through this, as we feel the create repair order functionality will be consistent throughout the application, by always directing the user in to the repair work order assistant.

Above solution was provided to handle below issue encountered.

1) Create a serial object
2) Create a WO with the serial object as the Object ID
3) Note that now 'Create Repair Work Order'  RMB option is enable if the user wants to create a repair WO for the serial object
4) When the user select the RMB option, 'Create Repair Work Order Assistant - Serial Object' step of the assistant will be open with the serial object's data already populated
5) Fill in the other mandatory information in the assistant and click finish
6) A new Repair WO will be created with the Source WO information along with automatic return lines and Issue lines to return the part in to the inventory and issue to repair workshop

Issue encountered -
There's a difference to create a repair work order. It's not the same result using the wizard or to convert a work order to a repair work order with the screen Prepare work order.

Solution Provided:

Stated above.

Best Regards,

Thilini
