I use the Child Relation Editor to link to related tables without issue. In the example below I can successfully link to PRODUCT and use field form PRODUCT on this screen.
I now want to link to product_ext so the link would be stock_serial_id → product → product_ext
How do I do that? I have tried the below.
However I get the error below when adding a field from PRODUCT_EXT so my linking method must be incorrect.
Any help on the correct procedure would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Barry

Hi @MWAMAITTEAM ,
The UI designer is telling you that you have to provide the item path in the properties for the field. You can see an example of a path with 2 tables on the contact screen on the service history tab the Name field. when you select that field you will see
you can type in the path even though there is a drop down function. so you will want to enter the parent/child/grandchild tables. then you should be able to see the value on the screen. otherwise it will always be empty.
Your path should be stock_serial_id/product/product_ext
The message that you got is not really an error message more informational.
The documentation (below) suggests linking to a grandchild table should be done in the Child Relation Editor using the Linke Table field. Your screenshot suggests some other method. Is your method done in conjunction with the Child Relation Editor? If so, how is the Child Relation Editor configured. I am not 100% your screenshot relates to what I am tring to achieve. Can you provide more details?
I thought your requirement was to link to another table through a different grandchild using another list view. If that's the case, you need to link the product_ext table in the "Linked Table" column (the third column) of the Child Relations editor.
As far as I recall, you may also need to define the relationship for the linked table as well. You can find many examples of this setup on the standard REQUEST screen — please have a look there for reference.
