V15.4 MobileEdge - Issue with Map display and Intune MDM

Hi all,

we are facing an issue where we have Android Tablets using Microsoft Intune MDM and it gives an error when using MobileEdge - more specific when the Map display (e.g. to see your colleagues) is clicked.

The error is pointing to a java script but is very generic.

Did anyone see the same issue, is there a specific configuration required?

Regards, Bart

Hi Bart,
What type of tablet are you using?  Can you run a quick test where you uninstall Intune temporarily and then reinstall the Astea Mobile Native App and run another test?  (Does it work on the mobile device WITHOUT Intune?)  Need to know if it’s a device specific issue or if it’s related to Intune...

If it works once you remove Intune then let’s try the following:

Reinstall Intune, then open up Chrome on the tablet and try logging into the mobile application using the same URL there  See if that also throws an error when the Map module is launched or if that works…
Thanks,
Reid

Thanks Reid

I can confirm following from our testing

  • we have tried on the area of the tablet not controlled by Intune and then Map works well
  • we have tried to go to Google Maps on Intune controlled area and that works well
  • so we believe it is between Astea and Intune

We are using Samsung Tab3 (don't have more specific details here at the moment)

I will test what you are suggesting with Chrome

kind regards, Bart

Hello Reid,

as further update we have tested what you said, from Chrome with the Mobile URL, and from there the Map is working well. For good understanding that is inside the Intune controlled segment of the Tablet.

Quick update:  Development loaded a debug version of the Native App onto a device that was experiencing the issue and found that the Work Profile on the device stores the app in a different location than the Personal Profile and that location was not whitelisted with Google.  We updated our settings in Google to allow map calls from the new location and tested and confirmed that everything is working properly (so no code changes are needed at this time).

Thanks Reid, from initial testing by a single user the change in configuration I can confirm is working.

I believe the issue is resolved, we are running some further tests and then issue will be closed
