Hi folks,

I have a customer requirement to bring the labour hours in to the monthly review forecast, as they evaluate the labour requirements in hours.

What is the easiest/best way to achieve this requirement ?

The option I was thinking of was to use a combination of resource planning + resource forecasting functionality.

  1. Plan resources against each of the project activities and enter the planned hours.
  2. Employees report time using these activities.
  3. Create a resource forecast on a monthly basis that would generate the ETC hours and EAC hours. (this also shows the dollar values corresponding to the ETC hours/EAC hours)
  4. Create the monthly review forecast and in that, include the resource forecast created above. This would update EAC and ETC based on the resource hours as well.

Just wondering if there is a simpler way to achieve this requirement.

Thank you,

Ash

Hi Ash,

If the main requirement is to plan and Follow up ETC and EAC in hours, Resource Forecast must be used. In this scenario.
1) Create Initial Resource forecast and Project Forecast and connect both.

2) Employee Reports time.

3) Then generate Resource forecast and Project Forecast with required Cut-off date, with option “copy value from initial Forecasts” and along with Snapshot. Then connect both.

This will give correct EAC and ETC recalculated.

If we generate the Monthly review directly, and connect snapshot, the lines will be created as exceptions without EAC Value.

Note: Resource Group setup with Company/Person/Employee with Project Related cost is a Prerequisite for Resource Forecast and also Cost Element setup.

Please check. Thanks, Ram
