Does anyone know of a good way to print/save drawings attached to a Structure within IFS? We need to print/save all the drawings at the different levels of the structure. Right now it is done one by one.

Thoughts?

Good question!  We have a similar requirement except we need to export the entire document package for a structure to an FTP site for access by a supplier.  It will be interesting to see if anyone has created a solution to accomplish these actions.

Can this be done? Does anyone from IFS have an idea on how this can be done?

HI @holae @ShawnBerk

It could be done by attaching the relevant documents to the top part (level 0). And once the are attached they can all be seen, and the changes will also be reflected since it is a reference to the document within the child parts.

Navigate to the top part > Documents > Attach > Search for the already uploaded document (using the Document key: %child part no.% would be the easiest).

This will connect the document to the uploaded document in the child part; i.e. a drawing, checklist doc., etc.

That isn’t a feasible solution for a BOM structure that has more than 1000 child items with hundreds of drawings.  It would require double work to add each item to the parent structure, then if the one or more of the child items are used in multiple parents (as many parts are), then it would mean duplicating the attachment for the number of occurrences the item is used.

No, the only solution will be to find a way to work down through the BOM structure from the top and extract a list of all of the document revisions for the structure, then export/download that list to the drop site.  I don’t see a solution within the IFS provided tools.
