Please refer the test below,

1.Transact a DSO to Approve state where the part is serviceable i.e. part is reserved to the Assembly side.
2. Go to the parent ASO of the DSO, Search for the material line.
3. Unreserve the material line.
4. Reserve the line using the RMB option Manual Reservation. The same serial captured during disposition should be reserved.
5. Based on the above transaction '4', the Structure Line No is removed.
6. The consequence of the same is such - One can reserve the DSO and once the DSO is approved again with a different disposition code, in the ASO - Material tab the same material line is created again. Hence there is duplication of the same material line.

Any comments on this observation?

Hi Bhanuka,

This is the intended system behavior where the structure line number get removed from a material line when the part is unreserved. When the structure line number is removed the material line become of type 'Invent Order'.

Therefore the system doesn't allow you to unapprove the DSO when the material line is still in reserved state. In order to do so, you need to unreserve the ASO material line. Once you have unreserved the material line, revert the DSO and process it again a new material line is created with supply type MRO. According to RnD this is the intended behavior of the system,
