Kit Article (25R2):

i got a question regarding KIT articles:

It doesnt matter which part type the kit article is right?
Can be either manufactured or purchased → it will not create any shop order proposals or Purchase Requisition.

there are just mrp action proposals which will indicate that there is not enough on stock for example

Kind regards

How MRP handles kit articles in IFS Cloud 25R2

In IFS Cloud 25R2, a kit article is treated as a bundled part (a set of underlying components).
Because of this, the kit header itself is not planned as a normal manufactured or purchased part:

  • The part type of the kit (Manufactured or Purchased) does not cause MRP to create automatic Shop Order Proposals or Purchase Requisitions for the kit header.
  • Instead, MRP focuses on the components of the kit. Depending on whether those components are manufactured or purchased, MRP will create shop order or purchase requisition proposals for the components, not for the kit header.
  • For the kit header, MRP will:
    • Check available kit inventory, and
    • Generate MRP Action Proposals when there is not enough kit stock to cover demand.

This means what you see is the intended standard behavior:

  • You can define the kit header as either Manufactured or Purchased.
  • MRP will not create supply orders for the kit header itself, only action proposals indicating shortages, while real supply is driven by the kit components.

Yes, your understanding is correct.
For a kit article in IFS Cloud 25R2:

  • The part type of the kit header (Manufactured vs Purchased) does not drive automatic creation of Shop Order Proposals or Purchase Requisitions.
  • MRP will not create new supply orders (shop orders/PRs) for the kit header itself.
  • Instead, MRP will only:
    • Check available stock of the kit, and
    • Create MRP Action Proposals if there is not enough stock to cover demand.
