We, the ET MRO Planning section, are in need of a long-range Gantt chart generator to support our slot availability analysis. The tool should ideally include:

  • Indicators or warnings when plans exceed available capacity

  • Labels or alerts when overlapping work package plans exist

We have reviewed the following options:

  • Long Range Planner (from the Heavy Planner to-do list)

  • Fleet Planner

  • Planning Viewer (From Line Planner to-do list)

We would like to request the IFS team’s recommendation or insights:
Which of these tools-or any others-would best meet our needs for long-range planning, slot management, and overlap detection?

After some discussion internally we are not able to make a specific recommendation. Several architects were fielded for opinions, but they did not feel they had the right level of familiarity with your organisation to make any firm recommendations. We would encourage you to reach out to your account manager for a formal consultation. They have been notified of this request.

We can state that Long Range Planner is a deprecated* feature. The applet remains in the product for use by a specific set of customers who have their usage grandfathered in, but we do not recommend that any new solutions are designed to use this product, as it has not been maintained or improved upon for several years.
