Question Regarding Broadcast Messages and Email Notifications for Maintenance Announcements

Hi

According to the following document, I understand that the Broadcast Messages feature can be used to notify users within the application about planned maintenance, system updates, operational changes, emergency announcements, and similar events.

I would like to confirm the available notification methods for planned maintenance and emergency patch deployments.

  • When announcing planned maintenance or emergency patches, are notifications displayed only as in-application banners, or can email notifications also be sent to users?
  • If email notification functionality is not provided as a standard feature, is it possible to implement a mechanism that automatically sends email notifications when specific events occur (such as maintenance announcements or emergency patch notifications)?
  • If this is possible, could you please clarify whether it can be achieved using standard IFS functionality, or if customization and/or integration with external services would be required?

The Broadcast Message functionality is just a banner.
 
to send e-mails, I would use events/event actions or possibly workflows depending on your use case.

The Broadcast Messages functionality in IFS Cloud is primarily designed to present information directly within the application and is intended for scenarios such as planned maintenance, system updates, operational changes, and urgent announcements. Based on the available documentation, Broadcast Messages are displayed as in-application notifications, and there is no documented standard capability that automatically sends corresponding email notifications to users.

If email notifications are required for maintenance announcements or emergency patch deployments, an additional solution would likely be necessary. This could potentially be achieved through IFS event-driven functionality or integration with external messaging/email services. However, the available documentation does not describe a standard out-of-the-box mechanism that automatically generates email notifications from Broadcast Messages, so further design or customization would need to be evaluated based on the specific requirements.
