Hi, we are currently consolidating our Part Catalogues within IFS Cloud implementation.
Our manufacturing processes produce detailed (machined & surface treated) parts which can be sales parts or be part of larger assemblies made from said detailed parts. Per legacy process & customer documentation, the name/number of the part changes only when a detailed part (DET_01) becomes part of an assembly (ASB_01).
They are all defined as manufactured parts, while any other components (consumables and non-machined/non-treated components) are defined as purchased parts.
For assemblies, we will have instances for MRP for both component as well as machined parts.
Considering an example assembly:
ASB_10 (Mnfg)
- DET_09 (Mnfg)
- COMP_01 (Purch)
- COMP_02 (Purch)
- COMP_03 (Purch)
- COMP_04 (Purch)
Will it be helpful to apply multi-level tracking for such instances, so that planning for ASB_10 includes tracking of manufacturing of its detailed component DET_09 and all other (non-machined) components? How can this be applied to gain maximum clarity on materials availability as well as planning?
