Hello,

Please, how can I add some excel data to the IFS cloud through data migration? I found something about IFS Data Migration Excel Add-in, but I am not sure how can I install it. I have version of IFS 23.2.9

Thanks

A description of the Excel Add-in is available in the Technical Documentation. In addition, have a look at IFS Cloud - Next-Generation Service Management demystified (24R2) | IFS Community, chapter “Data migration using the Excel Add-in”.

According to the documentation, I downloaded manifest IFS Excel.xml, but I cant add this in Office, I can see this:

and in documentation I see this option for upload

And when I want to upload xml file through online outlook, it failed.

As explained in the above document, follow these instructions to install the add-in: IFS Cloud Excel Add-in | IFS Community

Because When I open IFS cloud, I cannot see in Add-in IFS Excel Add-in, should I add permissions to FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN? If so, How can I make it?

I find it, but when I want to load some data there (in Excel), I got this error:

and also this one:

How can I solve it?

in column part_no, I input part_no in table in IFS cloud, which i want to change, I got first error

Hi @Ed22

Sideloading using a shared folder is the the most convenient way to use Excel add-in in the Excel windows client.

Hope these instructions will help you to set up it properly

Excel options, follow the instructions as below

  • Go to Solution Manager >> Data Management >> Data Migration >> Excel Migration >> Generate Manifest, to Generate the Manifest of IFS Excel Add-in.
  • Save the file in the shared folder created above
  • Now restart excel.
  • Add-ins → More Add-ins

Your excel add-in can be found under Shared folder

Add the excel add-in

Things to remember related to security using the excel Add-in

IFS Excel Add-in - Technical Documentation For IFS Cloud

  • User must be granted FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN permission
  • User must be granted the projection created for the each excel migration job (eg: - Migration job = INVOICE_ITEM_TEST - Projection name = InvoiceItemTestMigjobHandling)

I think the problem is in last step. How can I grant this two permissions? In Solution Manager → Users and Permissions → Permissions Sets → Projection Grants I cannot find InvoiceItemTestMigjobHandling. In Solution Manager >> Users and Permissions >> Permission Sets >> Grant Projections To Permission Sets I also cannot find InvoiceItemTestMigjobHandling

Hi @Ed22

The projection name is created for the Migration job id and adding suffix MigjobHandling

If your migration job id is MIG_PART_DATA, Projection name is MigPartDataMigjobHandling.

and the second one (Permission Sets) should i Add FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN? Because the name of the excel migration I cannot find there

Hi @Ed22

Sorry, I didn’t understand what you mean.

you need to

  • add permission set FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN to the user
  • Create a new permission set for excel migrations (or use an existing permission set which is suitable),  add the projection created for the migration job (which end with MigjobHandling) and add that permission set to the user

Hope it helps!

This works, but when I click on validate or execute, I have this error: Unexpected end of JSON input

I also click on Search, input there contract, part_no and all columns, but it retrieves Insufficient privileges

how can I grant FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN  permission to the user?

Hi @Ed22

  1. User and Permission → Users → User, search for the user id
  2. Click on User Permission
  3. Grant permission set

Search for the FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN  permission set, Grant

Hope it helps

I set it, but when I click on Load Data → Loading data will clean up all data in the current sheet. Proceed to load? Yes, after that I have another error: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'intfaceName')

Have you grant the Migration job projection (Ending with MigjobHandling) to the user as well?

yes:

and it says insufficient privileges

@Ed22

I’m not sure what’s the error :|

Can you send a screenshot of the migration job? method list and the source mappings so I could try to setup and see if it works for myself

when i click on grant to permission sets, i cannot find there FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN

how/where can I check if I have this permissions?

when you create job, IFS will create new projection , like picture 2, you need to add new projection to your permission set, and then you can use it.

Hello, we have two types of db, test and production, in testing environment I works properly, but in production not. When I want to login through add-in in production, it says: “invalid username of password”.In my name, I allow permission FNDMIG_EXCEL_ADDIN
