Hi @ekgaba,

Yes it is limited to 100.

Hi Yathartha,
I did a field research:
The CUSTOMER_INFO_TAB.NAME field is 400 characters long.
Hmmm, this is from Apps10. Do you think cloud made the field “smaller”?

Ok, I did a test in Apps10: 100 char → ok.
More: The value “my 101 test char” has invalid format.

So I’m happy to learned something new.
What do you think: Why 400 varchar for 100 char in the mask?

Questions over questions!  :-)

Hi @Michael Kaiser,

Not really sure why it has been reduced. But there is an enhancement request which seems to be asking to increase it😉: Length of the "Customer/ Supplier" Name | IFS Community

This 100 characters > VARCHAR2(400)  situation is likely because the Unicode character set used by App 10 and newer editions of IFS supported databases generally equates to 4 bytes per character.  With all the language sets needed globally and supported by Oracle databases (and therefore by the IFS editions as well) it’s necessary for the Unicode character set known as AL32UTF8 to be used to accommodate them all.

When I worked with one of the IFS upgrade groups we typically found that VARCHAR2(nnnn) fields would actually hold characters which were equal ¼ of the count of bytes allocated to such fields.

I hope this helps.
