Title: Linking Shop Order Operations to Fault Reports and Maintenance Downtime

We use Shop Orders in IFS Manufacturing to manage production. Each Shop Order has a routing consisting of several operations, and production activities are reported through pages such as Report Shop Order Operation.

During production, machines may break down and interrupt a Shop Order operation. Currently, production personnel report these failures by phone, and the maintenance team then creates the related Fault Report or Work Order in the Maintenance module.

We would like production supervisors to register the Fault Report directly when a breakdown occurs and, if possible, link it to the relevant machine, work center, Shop Order, and operation. We also need the downtime caused by the equipment failure and maintenance activities to be reflected in the related production operation lines.

Is there a standard IFS functionality or recommended configuration for integrating Shop Order Operations with Fault Reports or Work Orders? Can a Fault Report be created directly from the Shop Order or Report Shop Order Operation page, with the relevant production information transferred automatically?

@ArNb - we do similar with manufacturing tools on the routing, linked to serial objects that production raise a fault report on. You can link an object to a manufacturing tool but there is no native way in IFS to raise a fault report from the shop order operation tool. We created a customisation in Apps9 and had to keep this for Cloud.

I am starting to look at how we do this for machines but our machines do not have a one to one relationship with a work center on the shop order so intial thoughts are a to visually add the ID details on the machines and train users to raise the fault report manually.

I have not read anything that states 26R1 that has this functionality now so my current advise would be to look at what logic you can use to link the maintenance object to the shop order operation and look at getting a customisation written, Sarah

In 26R2 we will introduce the possibility to create a Fault Report from Shop Floor Workbench. It will be possible to create for either a work center resource or a tool instance.

@mikrse that’s very interesting to read, as you are linking the fault to work centre resource will there be a link to functional/serial object on the resource? Looking in 24R2 there is currently no link, thanks Sarah
