We are utilizing Shop Order split to create a new shop order to rework parts. Does a prorated amount from the parent shop order move to the child shop order? If not, does it make sense to receive the qty to be reworked from the Parent shop order and add the part to the BOM and issue the parts to the Child Shop order to bring in the cost?

Shop Order split (for rework): Does a prorated cost move to Child SO?

Hi
No, when you perform a Shop Order Split in IFS, the system does not automatically prorate or transfer the cost from the parent shop order to the child shop order. The split primarily affects quantities and routing, but cost allocation remains separate unless you take additional steps.
Recommended Approach for Rework Scenario
The documentation suggests that if you need the child shop order to reflect the correct cost for rework:
- Receive the quantity to be reworked from the parent shop order into inventory.
- Then, create the child shop order for rework and:
- Add the part to the BOM (Bill of Material) of the child order.
- Issue the parts from inventory to the child shop order.
This ensures that the cost flows correctly into the child shop order because issuing parts from inventory brings in their cost.
