Hi all,

How is the Purchasing Unlimited Supply Date field calculated on the inventory part in IFS Cloud?

Even though I entered 0 days in the Purchasing Lead Time field on the same page, the Purchasing Unlimited Supply Date has been calculated as 01.01.2026.
Could you please explain how Purchasing Unlimited Supply Date field works?

Thanks

Ozge

Hi @Ozge,

In IFS Cloud, Purchasing Unlimited Supply Date is not calculated purely from Purchasing Lead Time. Instead, it uses:

1️⃣ The system date (today)

IFS assumes that unlimited supply becomes available from the next possible planning date usually today or the next working day.

2️⃣ The purchasing lead time (if > 0)

If Purchasing Lead Time = N days, the unlimited supply date =
Today + N days

3️⃣ If Purchasing Lead Time = 0

IFS still sets the date to today, but depending on:

  • Site calendar
  • Workday rules
  • Timezone / UTC cutoff
  • System date roll‑over at midnight
  • Planning engine rules (MRP/PMRP)

…it may show the next day instead of the same day.

This explains why, the date became 01.01.2026 even though lead time = 0.
Given today is 01 Jan 2026, the calculation aligns with the typical logic.

🧠 Further to why does IFS do this?

IFS needs a valid date to ensure MRP/PMRP can:

  • determine earliest possible replenishment,
  • avoid past‑dated supply,
  • align with site calendars.

Therefore, 0 lead time ≠ blank date — IFS still sets “earliest valid date,” usually today.

Additional Insight:

The Unlimited Supply Date represents the date after which the system assumes the part will always be available without supply issues. Essentially, it’s a planning indicator for when supply constraints are expected to end.

Prerequisite:

  • The primary supplier defined for the inventory part
  • The default delivery address
  • The default ship via code for that address

Hope this clarifies your doubt. Let me know the feedback.

Cheers,

SN

Hi @SNIRLK ,

I can not mark the response as the best answer due to kind of the topic. I have created the topic as "conversation," so I can not mark it as the best answer.

Thanks
