Hi

We just starting to use PM Actions for preventative maintenance and have come accross a scenario that I’m not sure which is the best way to sort.

PM Action Maintenance Triggers are set to NOT be Performed Date Based as this is what we need. The Maintenance Plan generates as expected and when we run the Condition or Calendar Generation jobs the Work Orders are all created as expected.

However if you cancel the work order created from the work order pages I can not find a way to remove this from the PM Action Maitenance Line and as the Performed Date Based is not enabled a new plan line isn’t created for another work order to be generated, the system appears to think that that PM Action line is not needed and a Work Order will not be generated until the next PM Action line meets generation criteria.

Is there a better way to rectify this then creating a new PM Action revision which is currently the only way we have found to sort this out.

Thanks for your help in advance, Sarah.

For PM’s if you ever have to cancel the work order, the best way is through the PM Action > maintenance plan tab as then it resets the week to available.  Canceling the work order from the work order pages then you are stuck with either creating a revision for the PM, or turning revision control off to reset the “valid from” date or “start date” to regenerate a new row close to the date of your cancelled pm wo.

Thanks @Rcoubrou  - at least it is how I thought, we have the risk that here there are other users in a different maint org that could accidently cancel a work order from another maint org from the work order prepare/execute/conclude page, especially as WO numbers can be easily miss typed in.

Gotcha.   Only recommendation then is to have a custom event to not allow cancellation if user’s maint org <> work order maint org or alternatively, if a PM work order, have the event not allow cancellation unless from the PM Action > maintenance plan form.    Or set up a user group of PM CANCEL and assign to your PM Planners only and have the custom event state when PM work order, only users belonging to user group “PM CANCEL’ can cancel WO so it’s more controlled/intentional. 😊

Great suggestion - however we are a relatively small business and to be honest if a user can do three clicks on the wrong work order to cancel it then we’ve got a problem but when I introduce a new area of IFS I try and think of the possible issues and a resolution for what may be encountered. 😊
