Hi all, currently trying to understand Part Management and Catalogue details within IFS Cloud to find the best ways to implement and utilise it internally.

We have 4 part catalogues to manage:

Part Catalogue notes

Engineering Part & Manufacturing Part are versions of the parts defined in the catalogues above, but not separate catalogues by themselves.
Engineering Part - includes revisioning, technical drawing and structures
Manufacturing Part - includes manufacturing details, lead times, material requirement details

Engineering & Manufacturing Part details are interlinked and interdependent.

Is this right, or is there more to explore on this topic?

Please share your insights - currently working on consolidating these concepts to assist with internal training and documentation.

Part Catalogue / Master Part
The Part Catalogue contains the master or common definition of a part. The part must first exist at this level before the corresponding site/business-specific part records can be established.

Inventory Part
An Inventory Part represents a part that is maintained for inventory at a specific Site. Therefore, Inventory Part is not independent of Site.

Purchase Part
A Purchase Part represents a part that can be used in the procurement process. Purchase Parts can support both inventory and non-inventory purchasing. In our existing IFS process, creation of an Inventory Part can automatically create the corresponding Purchase Part; for a non-inventory part, the Purchase Part may be created separately.

Sales Part
A Sales Part is the commercial definition used when a part is to be sold to customers. It should not be treated simply as another inventory master because its purpose is the sales process. One Inventory Part can have multiple Sales Part.
