I raised a bug ticket with IFS about this some time ago (If I recall correctly it was apps 10 update 21 at the time). They explained that there are technical limitations which prevent the “object details”button from working for some object types. At the time, if a doc was connected to one of those “problem” objects, clicking the button just took you to your home page. They promised that in an update they would provide a more detailed error message instead (which i assume is what your seeing).
Interestingly, the same limitation exists in EE too, but instead of giving an error it just greys out the button so you can't click it at all.
