Impact to User Configurations / Personalization from the upgrade from 23R2 to 25R2

We are in middle of Release update from IFS 23R2 to 25R2, and we would like to understand whether this release update will have any impact on user profile settings.

If there is any impact, what is the recommended approach to export and import profiles in bulk, considering we have around 900 users with different profile configurations?

Additionally, could you please confirm if it is possible to export profiles from 23R2 (or 23R1) and migrate them to 25R2 SU5?

This is for IFS HOSTED customer.

Hi @ArcAnuraN,

During an upgrade from IFS Cloud 23R2 to 25R2, user profile settings (including personalization such as lobbies and UI preferences) are typically retained as they are stored within the database and carried forward as part of the upgrade process. Therefore, no direct loss of user profiles is expected during a standard release update.

However, in some cases, changes to underlying metadata or framework components between releases may impact how certain personalized elements behave (for example, lobbies or custom page configurations). These would not be deleted but may require validation or minor adjustments post-upgrade.

Regarding bulk export and import, there is currently no supported out-of-the-box mechanism to export user profiles from one release and import them into another. Profile data is migrated automatically as part of the database upgrade rather than through a manual export/import process.

For large user bases, the recommended approach is to validate key user personas after the upgrade and ensure critical configurations are functioning as expected. Where possible, it is also advisable to rely on role-based configurations rather than extensive user specific customization to simplify management across upgrades.
