Dear Team,
Has anyone worked with IFS on Business Value Assurance (BVA) as part of an IFS Cloud upgrade, ERP implementation or business transformation programme?
IFS describes its approach in three stages:
- Model the Business Value: Establish a shared vision using the IFS Six-Box Model™, covering strategic initiatives, KPIs, current and desired future states, obstacles, enablers and the financial business case.
- Conduct a Business Value Assessment (BVA): Identify and assess potential process improvements, efficiency opportunities, cost reductions and other benefits arising from a proposed technical or process-driven change.
- Scope Delivery to Expected Value: Translate identified value drivers into prioritised implementation scope, aligning delivery and adoption with the intended business outcomes.
The approach sounds relevant, but I would like to understand how it has been applied in practice and what value it has delivered for customers.
For those who have used BVA with IFS, I would appreciate your insights on a few questions:
- Assessment and deliverables: How did IFS conduct the assessment, and what tangible outputs were provided?
- Business case: Were benefits quantified financially, supported by baseline data and agreed KPIs, or were the findings primarily qualitative?
- Implementation decisions: Did the assessment materially influence solution scope, priorities and delivery plans?
- Benefits realisation: Were the projected benefits tracked after go-live and compared against actual results?
- Customer ownership: Who was responsible for validating the assumptions, approving the business case and ensuring that the expected benefits were realised?
- Overall experience: Did BVA justify the time, effort and cost involved? What worked well, and what would you do differently?
I am particularly interested in experiences from brownfield upgrades and existing IFS customers, where the objective is not just to upgrade the technology but to identify, quantify and realise additional business value from the investment.
For reference, this is the IFS overview of Business Value Assurance:

If you have used BVA, would you recommend formally incorporating it into an IFS Cloud transformation programme? Why or why not?
Even a few practical observations or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, GK
