Hello,

We are looking for a standard solution in IFS Cloud that would allow us to use different purchase receipt clearing accounts (M10/M18) depending on the purpose of the purchase.

Business scenario:

The same inventory part can be purchased for two different purposes:

  1. Standard inventory purchase – posted to the standard purchase clearing account.

  2. Purchase intended for Fixed Assets (investment) – posted to a separate Fixed Assets purchase clearing account.

In both scenarios, the material must be received into inventory as a regular inventory part.

Expected accounting:

Posting Type Standard Purchase Fixed Asset Purchase
M1 – Inventory 310000 310000
M10 – Purchase Receipt Clearing 300000 300100
M18 – Invoice Matching 300000 300100

We would like the user to specify the purchase purpose at the Material Requisition (MR) or Purchase Requisition (PR) level, and have this information transferred to the Purchase Order (PO) and used automatically when determining the M10/M18 accounts.

What we have checked:

  • Pre-posting does not appear to affect M1/M10 postings for standard inventory parts.

  • The inventory part accounting group cannot be used because the same inventory part may be purchased for different purposes.

  • We have reviewed the available control types for M10 but have not found a control type directly related to the purchase purpose or PO processing type.

  • We have considered using Fixed Asset Location or Asset Class (C9), but these do not appear to identify the purpose of an individual purchase.

Questions:

  1. Is there any standard functionality in IFS Cloud that allows M10 and M18 accounts to be determined based on the purchase purpose specified on an MR, PR or PO line?

  2. Is there a standard control type or purchase order attribute that could distinguish Fixed Asset purchases from regular inventory purchases?

  3. Can a custom field or user-defined parameter on the PO line be used as a control type for M10/M18 posting control?

  4. Is there any recommended standard approach to handling inventory purchases intended for future capitalization as Fixed Assets, while keeping the materials in inventory until they are issued?

We would prefer to avoid changing the inventory part accounting group or creating a Fixed Asset object at the purchase order receipt stage.

Any recommendations or examples of similar implementations would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
