Hello,

We are currently migrating Customer Orders from a legacy system to IFS Cloud using Migration Jobs.

In the source system, each order line has an original order creation date. We would like to preserve this information in IFS for reference and reporting purposes.

However, we found that when migrating Customer Order Lines, the value entered for the Created Date appears to be overridden by the system, and the date shown in IFS becomes the actual migration date instead.

I would like to ask the community the following questions:

  1. Is it possible to set the Customer Order Line "Created Date" to an arbitrary value during data migration?
    • Has anyone successfully migrated historical Created Dates?
    • Is there a supported approach through Migration Jobs, APIs, or any configuration?
  2. If Created Date cannot be controlled, what is the recommended field to store the original order date from the legacy system?
    • We are looking for a standard field (if available) that can be populated during migration and used for reporting/searching.
    • The field should ideally represent the original order creation date from the legacy system rather than the migration date.

Our goal is to keep a historical record of when the order was originally created in the previous system.

Any recommendations or best practices would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello,

We faced the same issue for a client on a different object (Part creation in an inbound PLM interface).

Our conclusions were :

  • “Create Dates” are not editable through migration or projection calls.
(NB : “User created” also works the same way for some records)
  • To store the date somewhere, we needed an extra field

Regarding your scenario, I think you’ll need to go with a custom field to store it properly.

The standard alternative I would suggest would be to put it in a text document attached to the line, however keep in mind this would be stored as a string so it is not the cleanest solution.
