What is the connection between Background jobs/Database Processes/Database Session

Hi

What is the connection between executing background jobs/database processes in IFS and actual database session? 
In 25R1 i have 2 jobs. Both are executing and have been executing for a while. 
 


I can see that 1 of them have a process id, and therefore a database process. We can also only see a database session for that 1.

 Is it normal behaviour for a job to sit in executing status without a process ID? And does there being a process = a database session.

All queues are set up with 1 process, so them being in different queues shouldnt matter. Or am i wrong about that

    I believe this is to do with Batch Queues. If you look on the background job detail screen for the ‘Function’ column then search for it in Batch Queue Configurations you can find which queue it is assigned to and check that its activated and has enough processes available to it: 

    I think that if it isn’t yet assigned to a batch queue it may have to wait. If it is triggered by a custom event I think it just fires so none of this applies. However I’m just a user so take with a pinch of salt! ;-)
