Power BI example reports - PBIX files in 23R1

Hello,

After having read about what’s new in Financials 23R1, I came across some very interesting pre-build Power BI reports for Income statement and Balance Sheet.

https://community.ifs.com/ifs-cloud-23r1-updates-417/ifs-cloud-23r1-what-s-new-in-financials-35506

We have Analysis Models deployed in our environment. I’ve looked into the git repo for 23R1 (biserv and pbies components) and I can’t find any .pbix files.

Any hint on where the .pbix files could be found would be greatly appreciated.

@Bob Corrigan maybe?

@Nisansala Liyanage is there any test environment where I could get access to see how these report templates look like? I can’t open them with PBI Desktop if I don’t have Analysis Services setup.

I just want to see what info is available.

@Nisansala Liyanage I tried opening the .pbix file with WinRar as explained in below blogpost:

https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Desktop/Can-t-open-quot-a-pbix-quot-because-don-t-have-access-to-SSAS/m-p/1634895#M657210

Then I deleted the connections file and I could open the .pbix file afterwards. But it seems that without data, all the visual elements seem broken:

Hi @Marcel.Ausan ,

I am not exactly sure how to do that. Anyway, when you download the report and try to open it, you might be getting below error.

Once you close this message, you will get a dialog to enter the credentials. There, can you enter the server and the database that you have and see if you can just open the report?

Best Regards,
Nisansala

@Marcel.Ausan I think the blog you shared answers the question of access to the template without the data

I do have the SSAS db setup and have these reports downloaded but it is still difficult to know exactly what insights can be gained without all the basic data setup like the original. I’m looking for an example of these files with the data and IFS Cloud Basic Data setup that makes its possible, without needing to do all the setup myself first to see if we want to use it.

Some of my users are unsure if they want to change what they are currently doing for something more robust. They don’t fully get the picture of what IFS is trying to provide. I’d like to be able to show them what is possible, I’ve heard there used to be a practice database I would be very interested in access to this.

Did you ever go further into these canned PowerBI reports?

@PhillBronson sorry, I missed your reply. We didn’t go any further with this since it required licensing the analysis models component and my customer was not willing to pay for it. All I’ve seen are the visuals/screenshots of the WHat’s New in Financials - 23R1 - that you can see at the top of the post.
