Version - IFS2003

We have a user who often exports Quick Report Navigator Crystal Reports to excel using the Export icon.

On his old laptop, he has the option to export to MS Excel 97-2000 whereas the new client build only has older options (Excel 5.0, Excel 7.0, Excel 8.0). 97-2000 gives better formatting of data into Excel.

We know that the F1 Runtime part of a client install loads Crystal runtime components onto the client and we think we have installed something else on is old laptop in the past to give him the 97-2000 option but don’t know what.

We have compared like with like and cannot see a difference.

Any ideas where the dlls might be that give him the option for Excel 97-2000? Thanks in advance.

The types listed in the Format: combo box depends on the Crystal export dll version installed in the client machine. As you might know these are not IFS but Crystal owned dlls. Maybe in your old laptop you had a newer version of the installed. In 2003, the dll version is 8.5. In 2004 it was updated to 9 and later 11.5 in a later SP.

The dlls are located in the windows\system folder so it might get replaced if you install a newer version of the crystal runtime. This can be that yo have installed a newer IFS version (e.g. 2004) or if you install a Crystal Report Designer version that is newer that 8.5.

The particular dll used to handle the Excel exports is u2fxls.dll. Check the dll versions in the two machines. The other dlls used by Crystal are located at \Deployment Files\Win32Client\F1 Runtime\SystemRoot\Crystal in the build home. Another few are located at System com and System shared as well. Yet when moving to 2004 this changed to crxf_xls.dll. So if you have installed any other IFS version then check for this dll as well.

Hope this helps to resolve your issue.
