Hi Everyone,

We have noticed the recently created KB article from IFS (KB0085167) state that the Removal of Basic Auth Support by Microsoft on Exchange Online.
This states "If you are using the Basic Authentication to connect IFS Connect Mail Sender or Mail Reader to Exchange Online, these connections will stop working in September 2025" and the fixed UPD29 will be released in August.

Practically, this time period would not be sufficient to build and install UPD29 by September.

When we checked the provided link to Microsoft Tech community it states that the change would be starting from 1st of March 2026.

https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/exchange/exchange-online-to-retire-basic-auth-for-client-submission-smtp-auth/4114750
Quoted from the MS link:

We will be making this change beginning March 1st 2026 and completing April 30th 2026, (previously September 2025).

Is there any new updates for the planned date for this Basuc Auth support removal according to IFS?

oAuth in Apps 10 is coming with UPD29.

It is available (depending on your personal situation, you’d need to ask IFS support for confirmation) as a Single Issue Patch

Microsoft originally planned to deprecate this in September 2025, but have pushed the timeline to April 30th 2026, probably because a lot of their customers were not yet ready to start using oAuth for their applications used to send emails.

This means it gives you a lot more time to actually get the single issue patch (or UPD29) and test it, as if you’re using Client Submission, it will no longer immediately stop working in September 2025 :)

If it’s helpful I just switched my mail sender to MailGun  (mailgun.com)  I am actually so happy with it I have no intention of switching back. The logging and the ability to see problems is fantastic as well as their optimization of parameters to ensure mail delivery.

Hi All,

I got below feedback from IFS and they confirmed the updated dates.

The KB article is not updated yet.

I have checked this internally. Kindly note that the given KB article is currently not up to date, as it still reflects the previously planned date for the removal of Basic Auth support. We will proceed with updating the KB article accordingly. Apologies for the confusion caused on our end.

As per the updated information from the Microsoft Tech Community, this change is now scheduled to begin on March 1st, 2026, and will be completed by April 30th, 2026.
