Scrap Cause missing on a Scrap In inventory transaction

Noticed an error in one of the transactions within the Distribution and Manufacturing Posting Analysis. Upon reviewing the transaction details, I found that the 'Scrap Cause' field was left blank for some reason.

As this is a mandatory field, users must enter a Scrap Code/Reason; otherwise, or else the system should block the process. Even if an invalid scrap code is entered, the system typically prompts an error message stating, "The Scrapping Cause does not exist." and prevents the transaction from proceeding.

I attempted to reproduce the process and see if I could create a similar transaction but not success. It means the IFS is functioning properly.

Given this, I’m trying to understand how this situation could have occurred. Does anyone have any insights on how the the end users might have bypassed the IFS validation and managed to create a transaction without a Scrap Cause?

Thanks

Hi,

You have the user ID, date and other information. Maybe ask the user if they know what happened and how this was done?

That's a shared generic account used by dozens of users on the production floor during their shifts. Usually they would probably can’t tell you what they did before.

Hi @BEYJASONCHAN,

Can you please confirm whether this is the only transaction created without Scrapping cause? If this kind of transaction are continueously occurring then have to put some check to identify root cause,

As you mentioned, application does not allow scrap reporting without scrap reason and I am also unable to replicate this issue.

Regards

Abdul Rehman

Hi @Abdul,

I have had a long discussion with the inventory control, this is the only transaction created without scrapping cause so far. So we can only consider this is an isolated case at the moment.

Thanks

Hi @BEYJASONCHAN  Can you advise what UPD for APP10 you're on?  I’m asking because -

Bug ID 166542 is a UPD21 patch that resolved the issue with the OK button not being available until after selecting a scrap cause.

Bug ID 161850 is a UPD15 patch that prevented free form text to be entered as the scrap cause. This is related to the Community Post.

Depending in your UPD, you may already have these patches.  Please review and advise when you can.  Thanks!  Jane
