Shipment Order in the new IFS 21R1

As above mentioned, shipment order is a new functionality introduced in IFS21R1 for the movement of inventory parts between warehouse and sites.
With this new functionality, application allows user to use shipment functionality in moving parts.
Basically the functionality works as below.
Create Shipment order (Convert it to shipment) > Shipment (Process the shipment) > Inventory parts in Internal order transit(Parts are now in internal order transit) > Register arrivals or Incoming dispatch advice (Receipt of parts to destination).
For the question you raised regarding the intersite process, if you have intersite setup and if you use Distribution orders to move parts between two sites, you can replace distribution orders with shipment orders.
But to use shipment orders you no need to have an intersite setup or internal customer/purchase orders, purchase parts etc. So, that is the flexibility you have when using the shipment orders.
But as per my understanding, we can’t use Shipment order in typical intersite flow, other than for the distribution orders.

Can just add that the scope and the usage of the Shipment Order will be extended in coming releases.
In IFS Cloud 21R2 we use the Shipment Order to send material requested by a service task directly to the Service Location. We see many future functional scenarios that will utilize the Shipment Order and we will add more and more scenarios for each release. For instance in 22R1 we are lokking into possibility to use the Shipment Order for part pickup by service technicians.
Furthermore in IFS Cloud 22R1 we are looking into handling of project inventory and handling of all relevant ownerships.

Were those features added to the Shipment Order later? I looked up in 25R1 and see its similar to what I saw in 21R1. But maybe I missed a few things.

Not sure if you asking for anything specifically?
We now handle project inventory and all ownerships apart from Consignment Stock and Supplier Owned Parts.
We have introduced a Ship command in inventory and receipt where you can select material and choose to ship, this will create a Shipment Order when in the same company and a Distribution Order when between companies. (a couple of years ago)
We can use shipment order to receive parts for PO in arrival and ship to final destination. We have expanded usage in the Request and Aviation Task to source and ship material (will come for Work Order in the future as well) (25R2).
Etc, etc.

The reason for asking is I am designing our Logistics solution in IFS right now. So far I tested this successfully in 25R1.
After PO receipt in the warehouse, I can initiate the shipment to the Vessel [set up as a remote warehouse at the same site]. So that works.
However,
1. Every time I close the shipment, the dispatch advise is automatically received in IFS and I couldn't find a setting that controls this [We don't have a scheduled task to automatically receive dispatch advise] thereby I can't see the parts in transit, nor can I register arrival
2.You said "…..send material requested by a service task directly to the Service Location” - I am curious if this works. So far I looked for this in finished work tasks, I don't see the relocate option
3.IFS help docs say the shipment order dosen't actually need material to available in stock. i.e. it can be moved in advance. I can't figure out how. Do you know by any chance?

Question 1: I guess you have this toggle turned on in the shipment type:
Question 2: In the task material line we have introduced supply code = Shipment Order / Distribution Order together with Sender Type and ID, which will create Shipment Order or Distribution Order. Then the normal reservation, picking and deliver happen with the shipment to the destination of the task material line. So far only enabled for Request Task and Aviation Task, Work Order Task will come.
Question 3: What we mean is that you can add a Shipment Order without having available stock, this will then depending on planning method potentially create a supply Purchase Order or Shop Order.

I am not directly involved in the enabling of supply code Shipment Order in the WO material line. I checked around a bit and they are aiming for this for 26R1, however this is plan and not a absolute commitment. Plans can change.
