I’m wondering if there’s a way to have a Single-Line string field show as currency?

There is not option out of the box for this,
You can log thisa as a suggestion in the idea area using the link below. This will allow the customer community to view the suggestion and comment or vote on it.

- Describe your idea in as much detail as possible.
- Before saving, enter 'assyst' in both the Product area and the Tags fields.
- Click Create!
