Hi,

We’re trying to understand how the replacements by PM actions works. Is there any good documentation on it? Couldn’t find it.

We’re wondering if it will still work if the PMs that would be replaced are on different dates.

Do you need to ensure that if PM_1_Yearly is replaced by PM_2_Yearly,  will it do that if PM_1 and PM_2 have different dates?

Thanks

Hi

This functionality is used to associate similar PM actions, where the action in the PM Action field includes the tasks done in the Replaces PM Action field and therefore it is not required to generate the second PM action. Note that the replacement will take place for Calendar, Event and Condition generation but only when both PM actions are selected in the same generation process.

(The current PM action should not be in a connection structure, i.e., it should not be a PM action which is connected to some other PM action/actions.)

For example, this is how a PM action with 2 year interval is replaced by a PM Action with 1 year interval.

PM Action 1 – Needs to do the action every year:

PM Action 2 – Needs to do the action every 2 year:

PM Action 1 replaces PM Action 2:

If you execute calendar generation,  generate a work order for year 2024, then a work order will be created form PM Action 1 (Generatable = Yes).

No work order will be created for PM Action 2 (Generatable = No), and the same work order number will be updated in the maintenance plan line.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards,

Thilini
