What is the idea behind the possibility to set up object type structures (object type In object type). How can I use this structure in equipment object structures?

Hi Roshan,

thy for your explanations about Object Types. I understand, that I can create Object Type structures within the basic data definition. Has this structure any effect for equipment object structures when I assign an object type out of this object type structure to an equipment object within an equipment object structure?

Thx Harald

Hi @HAHEDE
Please find the below detailed explanation.

Object Type: The identity for the object type. The identity can be used in Functional Object and Serial Object to associate an object with a specific object type. An object type represents a class or group of equipment objects, e.g., pumps, motors etc.

In Object Type: An identity for another object type, if appropriate. At new entry, this field only allows existing object types

An object type can be connected to another, superior object type. This allows you to build an object group structure. An object group such as 'Centrifugal pump' could be connected to a superior object group 'Pumps'. An item class can be connected to an object type. If both the equipment object and its part do not have an item class connected, the item class connected to the object type of the equipment object is retrieved to a work order once that equipment object is connected to the work order.

Object Types

  • An Object Type defines the type of object to which a piece of equipment belongs as well as the actual Attributes of the object.
  • Object Types are used to categorize Equipment Objects
  • If an Object Type is included in another one, a hierarchical, multilevel structure can be used.
  • Examples of Object Types are Drill, Electrical motor, Gearbox.

You can connect the following to the Object Type

  • Characteristics: Technical attributes that can be associated with a specific Object Type to help define an Equipment Object.
  • Positions: Positions for the object during an isolation order may also be defined. It is possible to associate valid positions of an Equipment Object during Isolation
  • Type Designation: An Object Type can also be connected to a Type Designation.

Hope this helps!

Best Regards,
Roshan

Hi @HAHEDE , there is no such effect for equipment object structures. It’s a just a simple categorization capability.

BTW, if you can elaborate what kind of an effect do you look for?

Hi Mayura, thx for your info.

Our original intension was, to define dependencies between different types of equipment such like if we enter e.g. like pumps and if we defined that an equipment is a pump than it is only allowed to define that only types related to pumps is allowed to select. And if such a sub type is selected only a specific sub sub type is possible to select. We searched if it is possible to defined dependencies between e.g. object type, catagorie and …

But we found that there is possibility to define structures with three levels.

How ever, thx for your support. BR

thank you for the information @HAHEDE . BTW it seems you have made a mistake by marking your question as the answer on this post. 🙂
